That was a satisfying project to develop, from theme to concept to model sheet. I did a wide research about Polynesian and Hawaiian culture, about hula and the tattoo meanings. The results was this set of characters. The two dancers performing important roles and the band as support characters. The design was based on the instruments they use and the colors came from the ocean and plants.

The face was the spiritual connection and the waves represent the sea, the source of life.

The tattoos are for the most prominent warriors and the place denotes loyalty and the strong a warrior needs.
